From 2000-2010, 3.4 million New Yorkers migrated out--mostly to southern states. Florida gained nearly one-third of those who migrated. However, before the mass exodus of New Yorkers in the 2000's, many began trickling into Florida in the 80s and 90s because of lenient tax laws. (Source,Source,Source)

Italian New Yorkers made Florida their second home and began opening restaurants and pizzerias. Thin crust pizzas loaded with toppings, and extra large portions were their specialty. Kenny Pfund, Head Chef and part owner of Blue Jeans, worked in some of these pizzerias during high school. He developed a fondness for the New York style of Italian cooking, and used his experiences to hone his pizza making talents. This was the beginning of his journey in opening a pizzeria of his own.

Blue Jeans Pizza first opened in 1998 in Vero Beach, Florida, our original home. In 2000, Christopher Pfund (Kenny's brother) moved to Blue Ridge, Georgia to pursue a career as a Pastry Chef. In 2002, the rest of the family followed suit and brought the family business along for the ride. Blue Jeans Pizza & Pasta Factory is a family oriented, owned, and operated Italian restaurant. Parents, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, cousins, grandchildren-- you name it, nearly everyone in our family has played an important role in the growth of our business.

We serve traditional New York style pizzas and Italian dishes. We always use the freshest ingredients to ensure quality. As tradition would have it, our portion sizes are exceptionally large (and delicious, of course). You will ALWAYS have enough to take home! Blue Jeans Pizza & Pasta Factory is comparable to none. We welcome our guests with open arms-- you are always family with us! blog
